Getting both shots at the same visit does not make the side effects worse. A VA study tracked 46 possible adverse events over 90 days in people who got a flu shot alone versus people who got both a flu shot and a COVID vaccine together, and the co-administration group came out no different. If you have been spacing them out to be careful, the data say you don't need to.

A study using electronic health records from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs compared people who received a COVID-19 vaccine and a flu vaccine at the same visit against those who received only a flu vaccine. Researchers tracked 46 possible adverse events — ranging from mild to serious — in the 90 days following vaccination. The findings indicated that getting both shots together did not increase the risk of side effects compared with getting the flu shot alone.
